I need a diet that can help me lose weight (rapidly if possifble) and build lean muscle; I exercise regularly.
November 16th, 2007 | by Jared |I want to lose weight as quickly as possible but at the same time build muscle. I think that building muscles will help me lose weight faster. Also, keep in mind that I want lean muscle mass. I would like for people to give me examples of diets the are designed for only weight loss, diets that are designed only for muscle gain/muscle building, and diets that are designed for BOTH weight loss and muscle buidling/gain. I also want to know what supplements and vitamins I need.
I am 20 years old and weigh around 180 pounds. I sometimes get discouraged because I will exercise and eat right for a couple of months and not lose a single pound. I’m trying to make things work this time. I would like to weigh around 140-155, I’m not that tall I’m only 5 feet something…6 I think. Maybe 7. I’m not trying to become a body builder its just that I lift weights and I would like to see some more effecient muscle gain. I haven’t seen as much as I would have liked to these past few years. PLEASE HELP
I also want to know what kind of diet pills should I use? I know that there ARE SOME diet pills out there that can help me lose weight but only with regurlar exercise and proper nutrition. Please recommend some to me.
Also, PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND if you are only going to just tell me simple things like the first guy to respond. I am not interested in clicking on countless links that give me the same information that I have found searching for for several hours online. I want REAL answers from you guys with REAL DIETS. I’m sorry but I don’t mean to be rude. Thank you.
I’m sorry guys, when i said I wanted to lose weight rapidly, what I really meant was really see myself lose a healthy 1-2 (some sources say 3) pounds a week. The thing I have tried to make this kind of weight loss pace occur in my body but it never does, I think its because of a diet plan that didn’t work out for me. I know that losing too much weight too rapidly is unhealthy and after I lose the weight it just comes back right away due to metabolic processes.
Also, how many calories should I take in daily for effective weight loss, and how many should I burn daily. Don’t tell me burn 3,500 calories more than that because I am horrible at math. I need an exact number of intake and outtake please. Thank you.
Also I don’t ahve a problem with the word diet. When I was around 13-16 years I ate alot but it wasn’t junk food. I **** junk food, candy, juice, soda, all that stuff. I **** chips. I have rarely ate any off that stuff in my life. I don’t know I just don’t like it. I don’t have a problem with any diet, I’m not a picky eater except for when it comes to junk food, I just **** that stuff. Sometimes I over eat, my family is Dominican so when I’m not on a specific diet we eat mainly broiled platanos (I think its plantains in English), yuca (I think its yucca in English), chicken, steak, lots lots lots lots lots lots lots of rice usually served with beans (brown, white, or black) or guandules (and I think those are called green peas or green pidgeon peas in English, once again, not sure). I can stick to any “diet” because I don’t really eat crap food. I like water and I like milk, and those are really the only liquids I like.

It’s a VERY simple equation.
A pound of fat = 3500 calories. The only way to lose FAT is to burn 3500 calories more than you consume. Pills dont actually ‘BURN’ calories. They may help you curb your hunger or lose water weight, but thye’re not burning off fat.
You need to do exercise that burns calories + cut calories from your diet, without starving yourself, for the maximum effect.
There’s no magic pill or certain diet. It’s very simple.
And for muscle– more protein, less fats/sugars. For your goal you want to do weight training in which you do MODERATE amount of weight for MAXIMUM repititions– DO NOT do “max” reps where you can only lift a high amount of weight 2-3 times….this is considered an “anaerobic” activity and doens’t burn fat as well as weight resistance over 10-30 reps does.

I know - you want it all and you want it now, but… loosing weight rapidly isn’t good. It’ll come back. better take it slowly, but for good.

2 things-Forget the word diet. That word means you will go back to the same eating habits you had before. So what good would that do???
Second- To try to lose weight as fast as possible is not a good solution. If you are also trying to build lean muscle mass at the same time, that type of weight loss philosophy could be dangerous while weight lifting.
There are myths about weight loss. Many people go on a fast
loss program, only to find they quit losing weight. The body will adjust, burn muscle for fuel and not only do they quit losing weight they can damage their muscles.
A good balances diet, consisting of Protien, Fat and Carbohydrate is still the best. But you have to know which foods in combination are good fats, good carbs and good protien.
Go to the website. There are a ton of resources there and Dr. Sears is renouned and respected.
It suggests a combination of 40% carbs, 30% protien and 30% fat. It will also show you the proper foods to eat and to get this combo. Good Luck…

The Trim Advantage system is the best plan I know of.
This kit delivers, with complete support for your first 30 days on the Trim Body System Protein Plus Diet. The kit includes a binder to hold the print materials, which include the Quick Start Guide, a 12-page booklet that introduces you to the plan. It also includes Meal Plan Cards that step you through every meal for 30 days, including shopping tips, meal preparation, supplements, and recipes. Eighteen detailed, full-colour Recipe Cards show you how to fix simple, healthy meals, fast. And a week’s worth of 10-minute exercises are described on the Fitness Cards, so you can take your exercise plan with you, wherever you go.
In the kit is a 2-DVD set that features a physician discussing the health effects of being overweight, a fitness expert who introduces you to and coaches you through all the exercises in the 4-3-2-1 Body Training System, and an introduction to the Protein Plus Diet. The kit also includes Nutrilite and Mekiwin weight-loss support supplements and protein powder and Trim Advantage protein bars and meal replacement shake mix.
The Trim Body System is designed to encourage the kinds of changes in lifestyle that may result in lifelong weight loss. Medical authorities recommend a weight loss of no more than 2-3 pounds a week to reduce the health risks associated with more rapid weight loss.
*The Protein Plus Diet was developed by The Better Life InstituteTM and approved by the Nutrilite Health Institute.
You can order the Trim Advantage system at (use the search field at the bottom of the screen).
